Dean's Message
Dear Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure and pride that I inform you of Dr. Andrée Durieux-Smith’s nomination of Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences for her exceptional contributions at the University of Ottawa at the departmental and university levels. On behalf of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Congratulations Andrée!
Dr. Durieux-Smith joined the School of Rehabilitation Sciences in January of 1993 and retired in July, 2008, after 15 years of service at the Faculty of Health Sciences. She became full professor in 1993 and during her whole career, her exemplary devotion towards her teaching and her students and her commitment to her research (she published many books) were combined with her participation in the administration duties of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences and the Faculty. She was the founding director of the Master’s Program in Audiology/Speech Language Pathology Program from 1993 to 1996, she was director of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences from 1997 to 1999, associate dean of the Faculty in 1998-1999, vice-dean, research from 1999 to 2002, and vice-dean of professoral affairs from 2003 to 2008. Her contributions to the life of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, and of the University of Ottawa were enormous and the title of Emeritus Professor is most certainly appropriate for our dear colleague!
Congratulations again, Andrée!
Dr. Denis Prud'homme
