    Health Sciences alumna Maude l'Écuyer-Lafleur nominated personality of the year

    In April 2012, Maude l'Écuyer-Lafleur was crowned North-American Karate champion (-68kg Kumite) for the fourth consecutive year. The nutritionist and public speaker has also played an important role in defending the rights of Francophone athletes in her federation. She now holds the title of Radio-Canada/Le Droit personality of the year in the Sports and Recreation category.

    Out-of-pocket payments by users to health care providers: a very inequitable funding method

    According to the World Health Organization, each year more than 100 million people are plunged into poverty because of catastrophic health care expenses. Professor Sanni Yaya says it is imperative for governments to show creativity in order to protect citizens from financial disaster and impoverishment as a result of accessing care and using health services.
