FindingLife Educational Adventures

OFFICIAL LAUNCH: Meet the Garnier FindingLife Expedition to Africa Team and join them for the FREE screening of the award-winning FindingLife documentary »

FindingLife Educational Adventures is an initiative led by Dr. Norm O’Reilly of the Faculty of Health Sciences which partners with Elia Saikaly and his FindingLife movement to extend FindingLife’s charitable and experiential efforts to the University community to support research and student (graduate and undergraduate) global experiences.

In 2011, the team will travel to Kenya, Africa in April and May. Dr. O’Reilly, Elise Desjardins (a graduate student in Human Kinetics (Sport Management)), and an undergraduate student from Dr. O’Reilly’s APA 2534 class will accompany Elia and a vast team. Sponsored by Garnier (www.garnier.ca) and co-led by eTalk Canada personality Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, the primary focus of the expedition is to provide an exchange and learning experience for 6 Ottawa-area high schools students and 6 Kenyan youth who will partake in a 3-phased expedition that includes building classrooms in a depressed area of Kenya (Solio), climbing the 5000m peak of Mount Kenya and experiencing a safari.
