Should kids sit less or move more?
Professor Jean-Philippe Chaput (Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine), who is cross-appointed to the School of Human Kinetics, is part of a team of researchers who have discovered that participation in physical activity of at least moderate intensity is more critical to childhood cardiometabolic health than overall sedentary time. However, when evaluating the risk of cardiovascular disease, screen time appears to be worse than overall sedentary time.

Professor Roanne Thomas receives a Quality of Life Grant from the Canadian Cancer Society
Professor Thomas (School of Rehabilitation Sciences), along with Professor Wendy Gifford (School of Nursing), co-PI, will document the breast cancer experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Metis women, addressing gaps in knowledge and care to uncover valuable information for the development of future support programs and education materials for health professionals.

FHS students get involved in their community
As part of the Transdisciplinary Community Health Program (TCHP), students worked year-round on regional health and wellness projects in partnership with regional community organizations. Last Thursday, March 21, the students presented posters of their work and shared their learning experiences as well as the positive results of their project.
