Jean Pascal Beaudoin

Biography

Jean-Pascal Beaudoin has been an occupational therapist since 1991. He worked on home care cases for a rural CLSC (local community health service) from 1992 to 1996 and in a rehabilitation centre from 1992 to 2000 (home adaptation, intensive stroke/CVA adaptation, amputees). He also taught part time for the University of Ottawa’s occupational therapy program from 1994 to 2000.

He has been the program’s clinical training coordinator since 2000, and part of his role involves promoting the development of the essential skills as well as the professional attitude and conduct required for professional practice; he and his team achieve this by providing instruction that focuses on key concepts such as ethics, standards of practice, the workings of helping relationships, diversity and group dynamics.

He has contributed as well to the design of the students’ professional portfolio, the master’s curriculum and the Monitoring Tool for the Development of Clinical Competencies (M.O.T.DECC.).  He has taken part in several national initiatives with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and the Association of Canadian Occupational Therapy University Programs, of which he served as president from September 2007 to June 2009.

Jean-Pascal obtained a master’s degree in public administration from the École nationale d’administration publique in 2002. His interests centre on the person-environment-occupational setting interaction and group facilitation processes.
