Biography

I began my studies in physical activity at Université de Montréal, when I wanted to become a professional dancer. After several difficult years, I decided to switch to physical education. I found this field very rewarding and I had a remarkable experience in Edmonton, Alberta, where I worked as a recreational therapist in a youth detention centre. This was when I realized I wanted to spend my career in physical education and health. I therefore enrolled in the masters program in anthropology at Université Laval, to learn more about the development of life habits. After these studies, I joined the research team on physical activity intervention at Université Laval's physical education department, where I pursued my doctoral studies to continue exploring this subject but through the eyes of a psycho-educator. I broke down the learning experiences of research participants to gain a better understanding of the process of integrating acquired knowledge into daily life. Today, my passion for life habits is just as strong. I am continuing my studies to determine how health and physical education programs in high schools are changing with introduction of the new curriculum and whether these programs have an impact on the life habits of young people. I am also conducting a study on the body image of young girls. Working with future physical education, fitness and health instructors, I developed a project in which students engaged in changing a life habit while acquiring knowledge on intervention theories and methods for changing life habits.
