Biography
Don Dawson is an associate professor of Leisure Studies in the School of Human Kinetics. He has been at the University of Ottawa since 1982 where his teaching and research have focussed on research methods and social theory. He is presently engaged in the "Mentoring At-Risk Youth Through In-School Recreation" program in conjunction with local school boards and community agencies. He has published in a variety of scholarly journals, including the Journal of Leisure Research, Leisure Studies, Loisir et sociéte, Leisure Sciences and Leisure/Loisir. His current research project is a critical investigation of "Leisure and Utopia" in social thought. He has served as a member of Board of Directors of the Canadian Association for Leisure Studies/Association canadienne pour l'étude du loisir and was the president of the Canadian Congress on Leisure Research/Congrès canadien de la recherche en loisir.
