Biography
Michael Robidoux is an award winning SSHRC researcher whose primary research focuses on indigenous cultural practices as they relate to physical activity and local dietary practices. Robidoux is part of the Indigenous Health Group, a multidisciplinary research team representing fields from Ethnology, Physiology, Biology, Toxicology, Immunology and Nutrition Sciences. As a member of this group, Robidoux leads research programs investigating the risk and benefits of land based food strategies. For the past five years Robidoux and colleagues have been studying the overall viability, sustainability, benefits and risks of wild food consumption in 3 First Nations communities in northwestern Ontario. This model of research is expanding to other rural areas in Canada and around the globe.
