BiographyDr. Woodend joined the School of Nursing at the University of Ottawa as an Assistant Professor in July 2004. Prior to this she was the Director of Research for the Canadian Pharmacists Association (2001-2004) and the Clinical Scientist, Nursing, at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (1998-2001). Kirsten became the Assistant Director (Undergraduate) in July of 2006 and the Director of the School in January 2007. Dr. Woodend’s primary research interest is in women’s cardiovascular health but she has had research funded in other areas including: seamless care for heart failure, optimizing medication management in home care, telehome-care, RN/PRN collaboration and interprofessional practice preparation for NPs. She received the Cardiovascular Nursing Research Excellence Award from the Canadian Council of Cardiovascular Nurses in 2005.
