Master Science in Nursing / Diploma in Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner (PHCNP)

The goal of the Masters of Science in Nursing/ Diploma in Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Program (MScN/PHCNP) is to educate registered nurses who have a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing for an advanced practice role as a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner.  The program provides academic preparation based on theory, research and practice in a primary health care setting with individuals, families and communities. The MScN/PHCNP is offered in English and French on a fulltime or part time basis. The program is 24 months full-time and three years on a part-time basis. Courses are offered using a combination of face-to-face and distance modalities. Delivery methods include: discussion forums, virtual classrooms, books, print-based materials, tutorials, clinical labs and clinical placements.

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must have completed a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing with at least 70% (B) average. The equivalent of two years (3,640 hours) nursing practice as a registered nurse within the last five years is required, as well as a current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario or from the province of all clinical placements.

Application Deadline

The application deadline for a fall admission is February 1st.  However, applications received after the deadline will be reviewed and admission offers could be made providing that space is still available in the program.  Please note that because of course sequencing and others factors, a student can only be admitted for a fall entry to the program.
