Biography
Carol Leonard came to the University
of Ottawa in July 2002 and is associate professor in the School
of Rehabilitation Sciences in the program of Audiology and Speech-Language
Pathology. She obtained her Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders
(Speech-Language Pathology) at the University of McGill in 1994 and
taught there until 1998, at which time she took up a position as Scientist
in the Kunin-Lunenfeld Applied Research Unit at Baycrest Centre for
Geriatric Care in Toronto. Her primary research interests include
the role of the right-hemisphere of the brain in language processing
under conditions of increased processing demands, treatment for naming
deficits in aphasia, and lexical access in aphasia. Her work is supported
by grants from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council
of Canada, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
