Testimonial in Physiotherapy
I like travelling, meeting people, being hands-on, and working in services, so I initially chose physiotherapy as “the best of all worlds”, a job that’s both intellectual and manual, that I can do anywhere and that involves spending time with my clients. (And the deciding factor was a secret desire to work on tours of the Cirque du Soleil!)
Since then, I’ve learned about the hospital environment, paediatrics, geriatrics, and cardiorespiratory, orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation; I’ve tested the theories on my own body, explored my strengths and limitations in fieldwork placements. I especially liked working in intensive care and postsurgical units, and am interested in pelvic retraining.
After I graduate, I intend to start working in a private clinic to perfect my assessment techniques, and then work in a hospital in various departments. Ideally, I’d work part time in a private clinic and a hospital. In a few years, I’m thinking of coming back to do a master’s in pelvic floor retraining, since that’s a challenging field in which there’s a lot to do!
That’s it for me! :)
